Travel Tip Tuesday: Staying at your "are we there yets" for less

So where are you and your family going this summer? Whether you are you staying close to home or traveling abroad here are some ways to save at your family's "are we there yet". Before you spend a lot of time and money planning your trip, you may want to take a minute to read 10 Myths About Travel Agents and 101 Reasons to Use a Travel Agent from Tripology.

If you enjoy the whole planning thing, then trek on brave soul! Here are some of the ways I have saved time, money, and my sanity in the past when putting together our family trips.

Via Michelin and Rand McNally:

This kinda fits in with TTT #2, but these resources will also help you considerably while you are where you want to be, especially if you are going to be doing little side trips. When we did our trip to Italy a few years back we rented a van and took road trips every week to little towns all over the country. It was a FANTASTIC way to see Italy, but in order to know the roads, traffic, and even which road is the road less traveled, you need a good map!

If you are traveling by car or will be renting one at your destination, "travel" over to the Via Michelin site for some efficient guidance. It covers you anywhere in the world you're adventure takes you. Traveling to Europe? They have an app for that! You will also find helpful newsletters and more travel help at their site.

If you and yours will be exploring America this summer Rand McNally is another awesome source for travel, and not just driving either. They have information on National Parks, Things to Do, tips for saving, and so much more.

My plan was to totally tell you about tips and savings for hostels (like the lighthouse hostel in California we stayed at, or the hostel in Grand Junction, CO we stayed in the year when one of my sons was a HUGE Dinosaur fan. I also want to share with you tips and ways to save when booking and staying at hotels, and more but I am beat this evening and ready to crash. It has been a long day of prop shopping, phone calling, and mom taxi'ing. So please come back this weekend for the rest. Thanks for stopping by :-)
