The Essentials of Fabulous

I haven't read a motivational book in quite awhile, and who doesn't need a little motivation every so often.  I guess I did.  You should see all of the great lines, tips, and thoughts I highlighted in this little, easy to read, happily and humorously motivating book. The Essentials of Fabulous. Because Whatever Doesn't Work Here Anymore by Ellen Lubin-Sherman.  Ms. Lubin-Sherman's sassiness is so fun, refreshing, and inspirational.

The great thing about this book - I found out I am actually kinda pretty fab! lol.  It is nice to read the "oh yeah, I do that", hmm, never thought of it as fabulous. It is my opinion, as moms, we don't pat ourselves on the back enough.  And when you work from home, or stay at home with kids, who is going to tell us what a great job we are doing - how spectacular we are.  Sure kisses and hugs and "i love you's" can not be matched.  But, sometimes you just need to know, WOW, it is pretty cool I am doing (fill in the blank) studying french, learning to knit, or "raising kids you can sit next to on an airplane."

In her book she has so many incredible little tips to stay motivated, positive, happy, and well, FABULOUS.  At the end of each chapter she lets you know what books she likes to read and why, when she needs a little help.  Love that!

Some of my favorite tips I plan on working into my life, or work harder at keeping them going:
"Whatever it takes to get you to feel the excitement about your life, do it."
"Remain open."
"Forget your age and force yourself to stay au courant."  (this is a biggie if you have teens lol)
"Don't be satisfied with what you know.  Keep learning and dreaming and challenging yourself."
A few of her book suggestions I will be buying:

Do One Nice Thing:  Little Things You Can do to Make the World a Lot Nicer by Debbie Tenzer

The One Hundred:  A Guide to the Pieces Every Stylish Woman Must Own by Nina Garcia

Brag!  The Art of Tooting Your Own Horn without Blowing It by Peggy Klaus

The Essentials of Fabulous. Because Whatever Doesn't Work Here Anymore  is a must read!  It is short, concise, and the tips are oh so helpful.  And some fantastically fantabulous news!  Ellen will be doing a few guests post for My Atlanta Mommy!  You are going to love reading her witty, happy, bossy style!  I did.   Check out her blog too!

Disclosure:  I received a copy of this book in exchange for a review.
