Back to School: Save on School Supply Shopping

Seems like just yesterday the kids were having their last day of school, but summer is flying by and before you know it the first day of school is going to be upon us. Here in Georgia, Walmart and Target already have some of the school supply lists out. I am sure the other stores will be close behind.

I found a post on Great Schools this morning with 10 Tips on Smart Back-to-School shopping. You can also find basic lists for school supply shopping on their site you simply can't go wrong with. In the post by Great Schools they make mention of "tax-free" days offered to help families save money on their school shopping. For North Carolina residents the "tax-free" days are August 6 - 8. The items and maximum amounts are:

clothing - $100
school supplies - $100
instructional material - $300
computers - $3,500
other comp. - $250
sports equip - $50

For those parents who have little ones starting Kindergarten, here is the School Supply list for Kindergarten at Hembree Elementary (many will be similar). Any of the supplies on sale at Walmart (thanks for the heads up Maggie :-) I have typed in red for you and I also added any coupon match-ups in blue!
