Cookie Monster would love this FREEBIE!

There are some songs from the shows the kids used to watch which are FOREVER ingrained into my memory and I become a bit like Pavlov's Dog when I hear words associated with them.  For example, a friend asks, "would you like some fruit salad?", I instinctively say, and out loud mind you,  "fruit salad, yummy yummy" (from the Wiggles) and usually rub my tummy while saying it.  You could say we watched A LOT of Wiggles!! So when I heard Great American Cookies was giving away a FREE COOKIE, one of my all time favourite tunes from Sesame Street, sang by Cookie Monster started playing in my head.  Its been years since my kids have watched Sesame Street and The Wiggles, but it will be a long time before I let them forget those songs, muhaha ;-)

FREE Kid's Workshops at Home Depot

The Home Depot has two upcoming free workshop for your kids.

The next event is this Saturday, October 2nd and the project is to make a Fireboat like the one pictured above.

It runs from 9 am-noon


They also have another free workshop scheduled for Saturday, November 6th. The project will be a Spice Rack.

These are how-to workshops designed for children ages 5-12. In addition to the kit, your child will receive a kid-sized orange apron and an achievement pin.

FREE Build and Grow Clinics at Lowe's for October

Lowe's has two more great projects for their free Build and Grow Clinics in October.

On Saturday, October 9th the project will be to build a Funhouse Mirror like the one pictured above.



Then on Saturday, October 23rd they will be building a Flapping Bat.

The recommended age range to attend is 1st-5th grades

The first 50 kids to register and be present at the store at 10am will receive a kit, apron and goggles.

Spreading Smucker’s Traditions Recipe and Essay Contest

Here is a sweet little contest from Smucker's! The “Spreading Smucker’s Traditions Recipe and Essay Contest” is a creative way you can share your favorite recipes and traditions that have been passed down over the years, AND have a chance to take home $20,000 to use towards a dream family reunion!

The contest will begin accepting entries in mid-September through early December. Here are a couple rules:

• Recipe submissions must incorporate at least one quarter cup of Smucker’s Jam, Jelly, Preserves or Fruit Butter, along with an essay about how the recipe makes their family celebrations special.
• The recipe must have been passed down for at least two generations.

It's been years since I have watched Veggie Tales, so I had a good time this morning on youtube listening to Veggie Tales songs. The kids are all in school, I am by myself and could be listening to any music I want, yet I can't seem to stop playing Silly Songs by Larry LOL. Each song is just as fun or "funner" than the next. So many to choose from, but I have to say my favourite is We are the Pirates who don't do Anything, with The Water Buffalo Song and The Hairbrush Song run a tied close second.
